Vancouver is frequently voted one of the best places in the world to live due to its beautiful location and great quality of life. Holidaymakers also enjoy this location because they can take advantage of all the outdoor activities on offer and choose from a range of great accommodations. If you are looking for a relaxing break with a touch of luxury Vancouver hotels will not disappoint.

The city of Vancouver has a number of sub-districts which each offer a unique and fascinating glimpse into the area's social and cultural history. From trendy Yaletown to the vibrant Chinatown district, it is well worth exploring all that this city has to offer.

Downtown Vancouver is where you will find many of the stores, particularly on Robson Street, as well as restaurants offering cuisine from around the world. Many well known retailers can be found here, as well as jewelry stores and little coffee shops to relax in and watch the world go by.

Gastown is the oldest district in Vancouver and dates back to 1867 when 'Gassy Jack' Deighton arrived here in the very early days of the settlement and established the first saloon that became very popular with the whisky drinking locals. Due to its history, this area boasts some wonderful historic architecture and cobbled streets that hark back to another age. This area of the city is bursting with charm and great cafes and restaurants, as well as some quirky independent stores. There are also plenty of excellent antiques and art shops in this historic area to explore too.

Yaletown is a very vibrant and trendy district of Vancouver where you'll find chic cafes and restaurants as well as some of the hippest boutiques. There are also a number of bars here where you'll want to see and be seen. Historically, Yaletown was the location of a 19th century railroad and the historic architecture from this time can be seen to this day. However, many of the original red brick buildings have been converted into loft apartments and cocktail bars, retaining much of their original charm.

Vancouver's Chinatown is the third largest of its kind in Canada. The rich Chinese cultural heritage and history of this area dates back a long time and is a popular and established location in the city. Here you can explore the numerous shops offering Chinese and Cantonese delicacies and medicine. Alternatively, you can browse through some finely made linens, tableware and silks as a lovely reminder of your stay here.

If you love shopping, then you should head south to Burnaby where you will find the Metrotown mall. With 470 stores, as well as a host of restaurants and theaters, you can easily wile away a day wandering through this area and exploring the boutiques and stores.

Many of the luxury Vancouver hotels are located close to the main attractions of Stanley Park, the city center or waterfront. These hotel options typically include exceptional on-site restaurants with international menus, with food prepared fresh and daily on site.

Some of these higher end hotels are very sumptuously decorated to make your stay even more special. The boutique hotels offer quirky but luxurious decor and excellent, personal service. The hotel rooms are typically individually decorated with plenty of mod cons like cable TV and room service. Vancouver is a great place to take children on a holiday as many of the hotels offer family hotel rooms and child friendly hotel restaurants. You can even find exclusive accommodations that accept pets.

At many of the luxury Vancouver hotels, business travelers are treated to modern business centers and internet access. At the end of a long day working or sightseeing, you can enjoy the leisure facilities that many of these hotels provide. Relax in an indoor heated swimming pool or state of the art fitness suite or take a drink onto a lovely outdoor patio area or garden and take in the breathtaking views of the city.

Vancouver is such a beautiful location, packed with fun attractions and activities that will appeal to every visitor. As well as some wonderful locations to visit, the city offers some excellent luxury accommodations that will please even the most discerning traveler.
